A Kaua'i homicide victim found dead in her parked car last week has been identified as Sandra Galas, 27.

Kaua'i police have arrested a 34-year-old man in the case.

Police have not released information about the man. A Kaua'i police arrest log showed that a Lawa'i man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Galas, a mother of two, was killed sometime Wednesday before her body was found that evening in her four-door sedan near Laule'a and Pa'ani streets in the 'Ele'ele Nani subdivision. Police determined that she died under suspicious circumstances.

An autopsy later confirmed foul play.

"We know the cause of death, and it is being ruled a homicide," said Lt. Roy Asher.

Galas' two children, ages 5 and 3, are being cared for by their grandparents, police said.

Detectives ask that anyone who may have information about activities near Laule'a and Pa'ani streets or Leipapa Place call Detective Sam Sheldon at (808) 241-1688 or Detective Marvin Rivera at (808) 241-1687.

A 34-year-old Lawa'i man detained last week for investigation in the killing of a 27-year-old mother of two has been released from custody but continues to be a "person of interest" in the case, police Lt. Roy Asher said yesterday.
Neighbors found Sandra Galas, 27, dead in her car Wednesday afternoon, near her 'Ele'ele Nani home. While autopsy results have not been released, Asher said she had suffered injuries that indicated she had been murdered. Her two boys, ages 3 and 5, are being cared for by their grandparents.
