According to the Edmonton Journal, a 12-year-old "Goth" girl and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Jeremy Allan Steinke of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada were reported to have been laughing two hours after the death of the girl's parents and brother. The two are accused of the murder of Marc Richardson, 41, Debra Richardson, 48, and their son, Jacob, 8, whose bodies were found Sunday, April 23, 2006. The pair was arrested in Leader, Saskatchewan and made their first court appearance on April 25, 2006. Both have been charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

Medicine Hat Police, who responded to a call to the Richardson home at 1:34 p.m. on April 23, believe the murders occurred late on April 22, 2006, or early April 23, 2006. The caller claimed to have seen a body through a window, and when police arrived, they found three bodies in the home.
