A 19-year-old inmate at the Hall County Jail in Memphis was found dead Tuesday morning.
A Hall County jailer was conducting a routine cell check at 7:18 a.m. when the jailer discovered Christopher Blagg of Childress dead in his cell, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Blagg was arrested Sept. 16 for public intoxication and felony assault of a police officer and had pleaded guilty to both charges.
He was awaiting transportation to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility, the DPS said.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office along with the Texas Rangers are investigating Blagg's death and have requested an autopsy.
No other details were available Tuesday evening.
