A Bellmore woman returning home from work was killed in a two-vehicle crash early yesterday along Sunrise Highway, Nassau police said.

Jaclyn Amiel, 23, was driving her 1991 Honda west about 12:35 a.m. when she attempted a left turn at Thomas Place in Bellmore into the path of an eastbound 2005 Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen struck Amiel, who had just left her waitressing job at a Syosset restaurant, said her stepmother, Janine Amiel of Bellmore.

The other driver, a man, 24, otherwise unidentified, was taken to a hospital with injuries he is expected to survive and was not charged in the crash, which is under investigation, police said. The man's condition was not disclosed yesterday.

Both vehicles were impounded by police for safety tests.

Janine Amiel said that Jaclyn, "Was just a hardworking kid coming home from work. She was loved by everybody and she was very kind and generous."
