Eagle River resident James Henley, 28, died of cancer May 21, 2007, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.

A graveside service with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Lilly officiating.

Mr. Henley was born Nov. 25, 1978, in Anaheim, Calif. He earned a bachelor's degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Mr. Henley enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on March 17, 2003, and retired March 17, 2007.

He moved to Alaska in November 2003.

Mr. Henley volunteered many hours to causes that benefitted his fellow airmen and their families. He enjoyed flying, mountain biking, fishing, traveling, music, and spending time with his friends and family.

His family wrote: "James was a loving husband, father and friend. He loved the time he spent in the Air Force and the many friends he made throughout the years."
