Street racing led to the death of a 19-year-old Houston man whose car flew off of Bellaire Boulevard and crashed on the bank of Bray's Bayou near Wilcrest early today, police said.

Police said Gustavo Davila was racing his red Honda against another youth's blue Honda at about 12:25 a.m. when he lost control of his car.

"Another car changed lanes in front of the red Honda, causing that Honda to leave the roadway," Houston police spokeswoman Officer Johanna Abad said.

The driver of the red Honda, who was alone in the car, died on impact, Abad said.

A 16-year-old girl who was riding in the blue Honda gave accident investigators an account of the accident, Abad said.

The case will be reviewed by the Harris County District Attorney's office to determine whether charges should be filed against anyone involved, Abad said.
