A boy whose body was found in a Folsom park on Tuesday likely died by accident, his family and police said Wednesday.

Andre Anderson, a 16-year-old Folsom High School student, was discovered by a passerby hanging from a tree at Big Foot Park.

Officials conducted an autopsy Wednesday on Anderson''s body, but officials announced nothing conclusive about the cause of death.

Friends of Anderson gathered near the tree where his was found, adding to a makeshift memorial.

Meanwhile, Anderson''s school, his family and police were trying to quell rumors swirling around the city about the teen''s death. Neighborhood rumor and posts on a community Web site suggested that Anderson died as a result of foul play.

But police reiterated that they have found no evidence to suggest someone killed Anderson or that he killed himself. Officials said that without any witnesses, it appears Anderson died accidentally after climbing the tree on his own.

Anderson''s family said he may have been playing a fatal game, possibly by himself.

Grief counselors were also on hand at Folsom High to speak with students.

"Rumors do make a difficult situation worse," Folsom Unified School District spokeswoman Heather McGowan said in a prepared statement. "They do not benefit the deceased student, his friends or his family."
