On Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, Timothy Andrew Reed, 23, unexpectedly journeyed home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after fighting such a courageous battle.

Timothy was born Nov. 5, 1983, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of David C. and Edith M.
Mattoon) Reed. From birth Tim fought the odds to continue his journey on this earth being diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic disease, Chronic Granulomatous Disease. Tim continued his courageous battle to fight the odds until the very end, never wavering from his strength in the Lord.

Tim graduated from Beekmantown Central High School in 2002 and attended Clinton Community College. Tim had an insatiable passion for cars and aspired to be a mechanic owning his own shop to refurbish classic cars. He also enjoyed hunting, having trophied his first deer just days after his 17th birthday. Tim also had an amazing mind and over the last two years of his life was always creating projects or machines to invent, tearing apart old electronics to salvage parts to create new gadgets.

Tim leaves behind an amazing legacy, touching countless lives with his bravery and courage with a continued positive outlook on each new day, knowing that God was his companion and would see him through. During his life, he was honored for his bravery and courage in 1996 by the Vermont Air National Guard receiving the Young Heroes Medal Of Honor. He was also honored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation and was presented with a beautiful Dashund puppy affectionately known as "Peanut," who became such a loving member of the family, spending countless hours of unconditional love at Tim's side during the rough times. In June of 2005, Tim, along with his family, began the journey to Duke University Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C., to undergo a stem cell transplantation in hopes to cure him from CGD. Despite many setbacks, Tim never gave up. He will forever be our hero!

Tim is survived by his parents, David C. and Edith M. Reed of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Cheryl L. Reed of Plattsburgh and Linda M. Reed of Plattsburgh; his nieces, Kaitlyn (whom he loved like a sister), Hope, Paige and Sandra, all of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Florence A. Reed of West Chazy; loving aunts and uncles, Royal and Patricia Mattoon, Floyd and Linda Mattoon, Jack Reed, Douglas Reed, Clayton Cutter and many cousins. He was predeceased by his older brother, Tod M. Reed; his paternal grandfather, Clarence P. Reed; his maternal grandparents, Irwin C. and Marjorie E. Mattoon; and his aunts, Rosalind Cutter and Beverly Reed.

Tim was a lifelong member of the Turnpike Wesleyan Church.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Turnpike Wesleyan Church.
Interment will follow at the family plot in the West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Vermont Children's Hospital, The Turnpike Wesleyan Church Family Life Center, or to the family, as Timothy wanted to sponsor an orphan in his name. The family would like to take this moment to encourage everyone to become an organ donor to carry on Timothy's memory.
