Austin Lee Turner Nelson, age 16, of Freeburg, departed this life Tuesday, July 24, 2007, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident within 8 miles of his home. He was born February 2, 1991, at Jefferson City, a son of Jeffrey Lee and Rebecca Kate (Skouby) Nelson. Austin was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. He had worked with S&K Roofing for the last two summers. He was very active in soccer, track and FFA; loved to hunt and ride 4-wheelers. He enjoyed playing basketball and on the men's softball league. He attended Fatima High School where he would have been a junior. He always had a smile on his face and a one-of-a-kind personality. He was always giving and in his death, continues to do so. Austin will be sadly missed by family and all who knew him. Those left to mourn the passing of Austin include: his mother Becky Nelson and Mike Wilde, Freeburg; his father Jeff Nelson and his wife Lisa, Dixon; sister, Shelby Nelson, Freeburg and Adrian Wilde, Eldon. Austin has one grandma of Freeburg, Carmen Skouby; and one grandma and grandpa of Dixon, Eugene and Phyllis Nelson. He has one aunt, Jan Skouby and her husband, Jernsen, of Belle; and one uncle, Greg Nelson and his wife, Malinda, of Dixon. He has cousins of Collinsville, Illinois, Sylvia Strackeljahn and her husband, Samuel and their son, Caleb. He also has another cousin of Hartsburg, Justin Skouby and his wife Danielle. Austin has two cousins of Dixon, Seth and Hannah Nelson. There are many other family members and friends. Austin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Iven Chris Skouby Jr., in October 1996, and will be buried by his side. Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, 2007, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg with Rev. Phil Niekamp celebrating. Interment will be in the High Gate Baptist Cemetery, High Gate, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pallbearers for Austin will be cousin's husband, Samuel Strackeljahn; cousin, Justin Skouby; cousin, Seth Nelson; friend, Jeffrey Bax; friend Michael Kaesik; friend, Dylan Buscher; friend, Jordan Beck; friend, Kody Krieg; friend, Cole Meier; and family friend, Adrian Wilde. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Austin Nelson Memorial Fund to be applied toward the lighting of Fatima/Knights of Columbus/Westphalia Soccer Field, c/o Bank of Freeburg, P.O.
