Although paramedics were able to revive 21-year-old Cory Healy Schueler en route to the hospital, he died shortly after arriving, police said.

Coppell police responded to the possible narcotics overdose call around 10:20 a.m. Monday after a family member found the Coppell resident unconscious, said Lt. Steve Thomas, public information officer for the Coppell Police Department.

Fire Chief Kevin Richardson said paramedics gave Schueler medicine and performed CPR to revive him. He had a pulse and blood pressure when he was dropped off at the Lewisville Medical Center Emergency room.

"We were hoping for a better outcome," Richardson said.

Although he does not know the details about the death, Richardson said paramedics didn't know how long he had been unconscious upon arrival at his home on the 800 block of Dalmalley.

"Brain cells start to die after 4 to 6 minutes without oxygen," Richardson said. Coppell police won't speculate as to whether Schueler's death was caused by an overdose until they have the autopsy report, Thomas said.

There were narcotics found at the scene, but police wouldn't say what was found.

Schueler's body was sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office.

The Coppell Police Department's Criminal Investigation's Division and Organized Crime Unit are investigating the incident.
