A body found in a San Diego alley is believed to be that of a Huntington Beach man missing for several days, police said Tuesday.

Dane Williams, 23, was last seen by friends about 1:30 a.m. Saturday leaving a bar in the Gaslamp Quarter, where he had been attending a trade show with his employer, surf clothing manufacturer Hurley International.

About 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, police found a body they believe is Williams' wrapped in a blanket. "His photograph was a match and the clothing on the body was an exact match," said Lt. Kevin Rooney of the San Diego Police Department.

The body was found in the 5200 block of Landis Street, several miles from where Williams was last seen.

Because there were no obvious signs of trauma, the death is suspicious, Rooney said. He said an autopsy was scheduled for today.

"We have no reports of an argument or dispute or anything like that," Rooney said. "It appears that he was already dead when he was placed in the alley."

Williams' sister, Haley, 21, said the family had been told of the find early Tuesday. The body "wasn't there" Monday, she said. "That's all we know." Friends said family members, in San Diego looking for Williams since Saturday, had posted pictures of him on numerous websites and lampposts.

No one from Hurley International could be reached for comment.

"He's a good kid," Leta McLaughlin, a longtime family friend said before the body was found. "He's in shape, not a partier. . . . This is totally weird. The whole surf community is freaking out; he's a really well-known guy."
