Edward Lee Shifflett, 26, a resident of Weyers Cave, died on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Mr. Shifflett was born on September 9, 1981 in Rockingham County, and was the son of Wilbert Shifflett of Weyers Cave, and Julie Chandler Caracofe of Harrisonburg.

He was a graduate of Fort Defiance High School and attended Blue Ridge Community College. He had been employed with Blue Ridge Community College as a computer Lab Assistant. He was a member of the Grubert Avenue Church of God in Staunton.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Emily Ream of Weyers Cave, a half sister, Holly Dixon of Harrisonburg, his grandparents, Robert and Diane Chandler of Port Republic, Jason and Phyllis Hinkle of Harrisonburg, grandfather, Fred Shifflett of Port Republic, great-grandmother, Jean Chandler of Harrisonburg, and great-grandparents, Robert and Karen Wimer of Mt. Crawford.

The family received friends 6-8:00 PM, on January 8, 2008, at the Grubert Avenue Church of God in Staunton.

A funeral service was 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at the church, with Rev. Wayne Collier officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul Cemetery.
