Matthew R. Ledford, 25, of Connersville, died Friday, February 1st, 2008 at Fayette Regional Health System.
He was born July 22nd, 1982 in Connersville to Randy Ledford and Gina Zwiernikowski. In 1994 while attending Connersville High School, Matt and some friends formed the band Fade Away, which was later renamed Kramus. From the beginning, Matt was the lead vocalist and guitar player. As a gifted songwriter and composer, Matt was almost constantly writing lyrics and music for his band. He is remembered in stories about his crazy practical jokes and his great impersonations of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Willie Nelson. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing video games, and 1980's movies and had a love for animals. His family was very important to him.
Survivors include his parents and their spouses: Randy & Theresa Ledford of Rushville, Gina and Eugene Zwiernikowski of Ypsilanti, MI; his girlfriend: Mandy Lingg of Connersville; brother: Adam Ledford of Butte, MT; sisters: Rashelle A. Ledford, Jennifer M. Kuboff and Jessica Kuboff, all of Rushville; paternal grandmother: Jean Soliday of Connersville; maternal grandfather: Roger Haines of Farmington, NM; maternal grandmother: Marilee Riley of Ypsilanti, MI; step grandparents: Donald and Lorena Zwiernikowski of Northville, MI; nephew: Kaiden Steven Ryan Erlewein of Rushville; niece: Alexis Ledford of Albuquerque, NM; cousin: Cassie Alison-Henderson of San Jose, CA; step-brothers: Sean Zwiernikowski and his wife Asa, and Jeremy Zwiernikowski all of Spartanburg, SC; step-sister: Michelle Sundquist and her husband Jeff of Charleston, SC; step-nephews: Caleb, Levi, Joseph and Jacob Zwiernikowski all of Spartanburg, SC.
He is preceded in death by grandfather: Don Ledford; step-grandfather; Robert Soliday; uncle: Jeff Alison.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Minister Dennis Perkins of Higher Praise Worship Center officiating.
