One Northridge High School student was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident on an ice-covered road and two others were injured.

Martin S. Robinson, 18, Middlebury, a passenger in the car, was killed.

Elkhart County Sheriff's officers reported that a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling eastbound on C.R. 14 east of C.R. 29 when it slid sideways and left the road on the south side and struck a utility pole on the passenger's side. The car continued around the pole and flipped over onto its top.

The car was being driven by Heather D. Jackson, 18. A second passenger was Zachary Stevens, 17, Middlebury. According to police, Jackson and Stevens sustained contusions in the crash.

The students were reportedly returning from the Elkhart Area Career Center when the accident occurred.

The Northridge and Concord basketball game scheduled for Thursday night was canceled after word of the accident reached school officials.
