A man who was charged with a woman's murder in Knoxville in 2006 pleaded guilty Friday to voluntary manslaughter.

Quentin Taylor, 21, was sentenced to 10 years probation.

He was originally charged with one count of felony murder in the death of Alicia Nelson. Her body was found in Fort Loudoun Lake in March 2006.

Police say Taylor confessed to accidentally beating Nelson to death. He even said he realized she quit breathing.

However, Taylor's attorney believes the confession was coerced.

"He wasn't coerced into nothing. We've seen the confession tapes. He confessed to it," says Nelson's sisters, Latasha Nelson and Tamara Howard.

Taylor has already served a year in jail. Based on that time, plus good behavior, he was eligible for probation on Friday.

On April 3, a judge will decide if Taylor's remaining nine years of probation will be regular or enhanced.

Nelson's mother had to be escorted from court when she was unable to hold in her emotions.

"I'm angry but I expected it but I'm mad," Latasha Nelson says.

With no evidence linking Taylor to the murder, the prosecution says they had no choice but to settle.
