Suzanne (Suzee) Elisa Charlesworth of Enfield passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at her beautiful home. She was born at Mather Air Force Base in Rancho Cordova, Calif., in 1968 and grew up in Yuma, Ariz., later attending Arizona Western College in Yuma. Suzee enlisted in the United States Army in 1986 and served honorably for four years in the Medical Service Corps as a paratrooper stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. Those who knew Suzee found her amazing sense of humor infectious. She had the natural ability to make you laugh so hard you'd cry with joy at her stories, poems, and songs; providing you with her heartfelt sense of fun and loving care. Her creative, artistic gifts were beyond compare. Suzee was a true natural at being herself. Suzee frequently stated she wanted to be remembered for her great, deep love for her young son Myles Francis Charlesworth. She often stated with stars in her eyes that, "Myles was the best thing I ever accomplished in my life. He's the most honest gift on earth, a rare blessing to me and others". Suzee and Myles spent hundreds of hours together reading, laughing, cooking, swimming, playing games, and having their own incredible adventures. Suzee valued the love of her family and friends and returned the same feelings with such strength that you would have thought the earth shook. She gave so much of herself. Anyone who ever met her would never forget her sweet nature. Suzee was employed by the University of Connecticut Medical Center in Farmington as a pharmacy technician while seeking her English degree at Southern Connecticut State College in Hew Haven and most recently at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Suzee was preceded in death by her only sister, Christina, who attended the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Mass. It was Christina who learned much about the extraordinary examples of love, courage, and skills Miss Helen Keller exhibited not only at this prestigious institution but also in her exemplary life journeys. Christina adored quoting Miss Keller and this particular one speaks loudly of Suzanne E. Charlesworth: "What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved <$> we can never lose. For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Suzee is survived by her son, Myles of Jericho, Vt., her devoted mother, Trisha Roths and loving stepfather John B. Roths of College Station, Texas; her caring stepsister Jaylene Roths, her husband Steve Blackett, and two little daughters Grace and Cecelia of Bar Harbor, Maine; and her sweet stepsister Justine Roths of Portland, Maine. A special recognition is given to her maternal grandmother Agnes Goralski Vincent of Avon, whose loving support helped Suzee along her life and educational pathways. The Roths, Goralski, and Charlesworth families will miss Suzee beyond words, along with Suzee's godmother Judith Rettberg and her husband Bill of Middlefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Essex. Arrangements are in the care of the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel at 68 Pinecrest Drive in Essex Junction.
