Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a mother of three at Canal Park on Sunday afternoon.

Amber Eldridge, 27, was found dead under a pavilion. She had been shot several times, police said.

Eldridge's family said the woman had struggled with drug addiction since high school.

"The drugs took over so much, even the kids couldn't get her off the drugs," said Aaron Eldridge, who last saw his sister about a year ago.

Amber Eldridge moved to Allentown a few months ago, according to her family. They said they did not know where she was staying, and used her MySpace.com Web page to keep tabs on her.

"I would use it to be able to know she was okay today, in trouble, but alive," said Aprile Goehring, Eldridge's sister.

Relatives said that Eldridge agreed to let her parents raise her children so that they could have a better life.

Goehring said that while family members are angry over her death, they believe that Eldridge's suffering is over.

"I'm at peace with her death," Goehring said. "She's in heaven. The monkey is off her back."
