A traffic fatality on a newly opened interstate ramp in July brought state engineers to town to investigate why a series of serious accidents had been reported since the ramp opened. The southbound Six Points Road exit ramp was where Eric Duckworth lost his life after the vehicle he was riding in lost control and left the roadway. The driver, Craig Spencer, was ejected from the car but survived. INDOT officials eventually added additional signage warning drivers to slow down on the ramp.
