A 17-year-old Lancaster boy was killed when the vehicle he was driving was broadsided by an SUV whose teen-age driver apparently ran a stop sign, police said Wednesday.

Ryan Alamoodi died at the scene of the collision, which occurred about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday at 70th Street West and Avenue H, said Sgt. J. Bluff of the Lancaster Sheriff's Station.

Alamoodi was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi south on 70th Street West when it was hit broadside by a 1999 Ford Expedition headed eastbound on Avenue H, Bluff said.

The three passengers in the Mitsubishi were seriously injured and transported to a hospital, he said.

The Expedition driver -- Roland Lara, 17, of Lancaster -- and his four passengers were injured, none seriously, Bluff said.

"It appears that the eastbound Expedition failed to stop for the posted stop sign regulating eastbound traffic on Avenue H," Bluff said. "Excessive speed does not appear to have played a factor in this incident."

No arrests were immediately reported. The case remains under investigation.
