A 17-year-old died early Friday morning after his car crashed into a tree in Central Austin.
Police said Jack Jenkins was traveling westbound on West 45th Street around 1 a.m. Friday when he lost control and slid through the intersection at Shoal Creek. That's when he crashed into a tree in the front yard of a home.
Jenkins died at the scene. His passenger was transported to Brackenridge Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
