Rick Lee Furgison, 57, of Lewistown, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at the home of his daughter, Rachel J. Ritter, of Mifflintown. Born April 23, 1950, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late James M. and Geneva M. (Stuck) Furgison. He is survived by two daughters, Amber R. Furgison and her fiance, Kenneth Kleinfelter, of Las Vegas, Rachel J. Ritter and her husband, Jeffery, of Mifflintown, 11 brothers and sisters, Rose Johnson and her husband, Fred, Zion, Mary Gotthard and her husband, Donald, Peaceful Point, Va., James Furgison and his wife, Evelyn, Bellefonte, Wanda Wagner, York, Dottie Cox and her companion, Don, Homer Furgison and Linda Furgison and her husband, George, all of Lewistown, Connie Wearstler and her husband, Terry, Greenville, S.C., Gail Ernest and her husband, Ken, of Lewistown, Joan Smith and her husband, John, of McClure, David Furgison and his wife, Sue, of Lewistown; one granddaughter, Samantha Ritter; and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Grace Furgison and Dolly Goss, preceded him in death. He was a 1970 graduate of Chief Logan High School and a member of the Steelworkers Union No. 1940, also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, No. 143, Lewistown and a Lifetime member of the Highland Park Hose Company. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. Rick was employed from Aug. 1, 1977, until Oct. 19, 2004, at Mann Edge Tool Co., Lewistown. He enjoyed the outdoors, picnicking and spending time with family and friends, shooting pool and going out to eat with his brother Dave. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Allen Hulslander officiating, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors. Interment will follow in the Alfarata Lutheran Cemetery, Alfarata.
