A community is in mourning after the sudden death of a 16-year-old boy.

Graham High School Junior Trey McPherson died Thursday night.

Classmates have created a memorial at McPherson's locker and parking spot.

Principal John O'Neil said McPherson had a personality that made everyone smile.

McPherson was also on the golf and academic team. A memorial service was held Monday morning.

The Tazewell County Superintendent says it's suspected that the boy died after playing the choking game.

The game is played by intentionally choking yourself to get a euphoric high.
