A man pleaded guilty and was sentenced Friday in Warren County Common Pleas Court for causing the death of a 2-year-old child, according to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.

Paul Cotter, 37, of Lebanon was sentenced by Judge Neal Bronson to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release control. Cotter was charged with involuntary manslaughter after an incident that occurred Oct. 26, 2006. Warren County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel said Cotter caused the death of 2-year-old Alyssa Logue while she was left in Cotter's care at her home in Lebanon. When Alyssa's mother arrived home, the child exhibited symptoms of Shaken Baby Syndrome. The child did not regain consciousness and died two days later, Hutzel said.

"This offender will serve his debt to society for this senseless act against an innocent child," said Hutzel.
