Brazenhead Irish Pub in Mason plans to set up a college fund for the three children of a "wonderful mother" whose death reflected her unselfish spirit, said owner Brad Eggspuehler.

Amy Reese, 26, of Hamilton was killed Thursday night when she was pinned between a co-worker's vehicle and a utility box at the restaurant at Tylersville Road and U.S. 42, Mason police said.

Police Chief Ron Ferrell said Reese was partially inside the 2001 Ford Focus when police arrived around 9:45 p.m. Ferrell said it appeared that Reese may have seen the car - which has a manual transmission and was in gear - moving, and tried to stop it.

"The reason she got into this horrible accident was to warm up the car of one of her employees," said Eggspuehler.

Police believe the woman's death was accidental and that no other persons were involved.

Reese had worked as an assistant manager at Brazenhead for less than a year, Eggspuehler said, and was known as a good wife and mother. She is survived by her children - ages 4, 3 and 18 months - and husband, Maurice, of Hamilton.

Mason chaplains offered counseling to pub employees Thursday and a staff meeting will be called Saturday to allow employees to talk, Eggspuehler said. Brazenhead is closed today.

A fund is expected to be set up today at National City Bank. Eggspuehler said a possible name for the fund is "Amy's Kids."

"We're trying to take care of Amy's family first," he said. "We are going to get her three kids to college."

Eggspuehler anticipates annual fund raisers at the pub to raise money for the children's college.

The pub has been flooded with calls from concerned patrons who were in the busy restaurant at the time of the accident.

Eggspuehler said customers cooperated with the decision to close the establishment early Thursday night and displayed the concern he would expect.

"Small communities tend to bond together, so we just had a ton of people sharing their sorrows and condolences," he said

Eggspuehler expects the pub to reopen Saturday for regular business hours.
