John F. "Jay" Bourdelais Jr., 23, of Atkinson, N.H. died Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2007 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Hampstead, N.H.

Born in Exeter, N.H. son of John F. and Robin J. (Flanagan) Bourdelais, of Atkinson, he lived in Methuen as a child and attended Methuen Public Schools. He moved to Atkinson ten years ago and graduated from Timberlane Regional High School in 2002 where he had been a member of the school's Varsity and Jr. Varsity football team.

John was a union construction worker and member of Local 429 of the Laborers International Union of Lowell and had been employed at M-2Construction of Lunenburg and Modern Continental Construction of Cambridge.

John was involved in Enduro racing as a young man and was presently a member of the pit crew for Team 70, his father's stock car racing team. He was also an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed hockey, football, fishing, camping, movies, paintball and spending time with his friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Lori J. Bourdelais of Deerfield, N.H., Nicole L. Bailey and her husband Bryan of Haverhill and Meagan L. Bourdelais, of Atkinson; paternal grandfather, Howard L. Bourdelais of Acadia, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Marjorie (Sweeney) Scanlon of Sandown, N.H.; also several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in St. Luke The Evangelist Church, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow.
