The family of a Silver Spring teen who was killed Saturday when he lost control of his car on Randolph Road said his strong faith in God is helping them cope with his death.

Julian Alexander Nalos, 19, a 2006 graduate from Montrose Christian School in Rockville, was killed Saturday when the car he was driving struck a tree on Randolph Road near Denley Road in Glenmont.

His father, Alexander Nalos, said Julian had left their house on Nordic Hill Drive in Glenmont Saturday morning to visit a friend who lives near Randolph Road and Connecticut Avenue.

''He was just going to go pick up photo paper because he was printing out pictures for a friend's birthday," Alexander Nalos said. ''That was it."

Nalos was driving a 2005 Scion when he lost control of the vehicle around 10:30 a.m. for unknown reasons, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Police Department. Nalos was transported to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda where he died from his injuries, said Justin Nalos, Julian's brother and a 10th-grader at Montrose Christian School.

Alexander Nalos described his son as a Christian who mentored youth, loved the guitar and went to Bible study on Saturdays.

Justin Nalos said he hopes people remember his brother as someone who ''had a strong relationship with Christ."

He also said Julian was proud of his music and has many videos on YouTube, a video-sharing Web site.

''He went to Montgomery College and he said people recognized him off of YouTube," Justin Nalos said.

Julian Nalos attended Montgomery College with hopes of becoming a pediatrician, Justin Nalos said.

Thomas Marshall, interim headmaster at Montrose Christian School in Rockville, said Julian Nalos was well liked and will be missed.

''Julian was a very good student as far as I remember," Marshall said. ''He had a great faith in God. He was very active in the praise and worship team here and had a lot of friends."

Marshall said Julian Nalos was voted by fellow students as ''The Most Artistic," ''The Most Happy," and having ''The Biggest Heart" in his senior yearbook's superlatives. He also was in the National Honor Society, on the student council, and performed in productions of ''Hamlet" and ''You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" while at Montrose Christian.

Marshall said there was a chapel service Tuesday morning to talk about Julian Nalos' death, but that many in the school community felt he was in a better place.

''There is some grieving but everyone is handling it well knowing his relationship with God," Marshall said. ''We know where he is."

The cause of the crash has not been determined and police are investigating, said Officer Melanie Hadley, a county police spokeswoman.

The incident is the latest in a rash of fatal car crashes in the past several weeks involving teenagers in Montgomery County. Two Richard Montgomery students died as a result of a Nov. 19 afternoon crash on Avery Road, and a Springbrook High School student died Nov. 12 in an early-morning crash on Bonifant Road. He was one of four teens in the vehicle.

Witnesses to the Saturday crash on Randolph Road are asked to call the police department's Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
