A 23-year-old man was killed and two men injured when an SUV crashed in Muskingum County yesterday, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Chandlersville Road/St. Rt. 146 near mile post 32, in Rich Hill Township. Pronounced dead at the scene was Nathan Hallowell, of Macksburg, Ohio.

Hallowell was a passenger in the 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by Robert Perry, 37, of Lowell, Ohio. Perry was eastbound on Rt. 146 when he lost control of the Blazer, which went off the left side of the roadway, struck several trees and flipped over, coming to rest on its tires, the patrol reported.

Perry and another passenger, Derek Petry, 27, of Macksburg, were both taken to Grant Medical Center. Perry was in serious condition and Petry was in fair condition early this morning, a nursing supervisor said.

The crash remains under investigation.
