Two Boga-lusa teenagers died after one lost control of the car he was driving and hit a utility pole Saturday night.

A third teen, the driver's sister, survived the crash. All were in the same vehicle.

The incident took place outside city limits near 59257 Borgne Ave. just before 7 p.m.

According to the Boga-lusa Fire Department, Christine Bostwick, 14, died at the scene and Stephen Joseph Jenkins, 17, "coded" en route to LSU Bogalusa Medical Center.

Harley Jenkins, 13, was reportedly taken to LSU BMC in critical condition.

The Jenkins' lived at 802 Avenue B and Bostwick's address was 826 Avenue B.

Two of the teenagers were reportedly thrown from the vehicle, and the third had to be extricated by the BFD with its "jaws of life."

It was not confirmed which two were ejected, but it is believed that one was the survivor. Details were still sketchy as of press time, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation in conjunction with the Louisiana State Police.

Initial indications are that speed was a factor in the wreck, WPSO spokes-man Fred Kirby, said.

"It looks like he lost control and hit a pole," he said.

The traffic fatalities are the second and third in the past week - a 92-year-old man was killed in Franklinton on July 26 - and brings the total traffic deaths in Washingtn Parish for 2006 to 18.
