Police have arrested an 18-year-old man stemming from a Tuesday night shooting in the 2200 block of Arlene Avenue.

The 18-year-old was arrested in the 1900 block of Elsmere Avenue about 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Dayton Police incident report. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of murder.

Police were dispatched to the area of St. James and Arlene avenues just before 11:30 p.m. on a report of a shooting, Lt. Randy Beane said. They found a man in the street later identified in a police report as Shamari Jackson.

Jackson, who had been shot several times, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according police and the county coroner's office.

The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
