A Clarkesville teen died in a single-vehicle wreck north of Clarkesville early Tuesday.

Aaron Clay Henderson, 19, of Clarkesville died after his car left the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting him from the vehicle only a short distance from his home, said Habersham County Coroner Don Pitts.

According to Pitts, the Nissan Altima four-door left the roadway on Highway 197, north of Ben Jones Road, between Clarkesville and Batesville.

The wreck, which happened around midnight, wasn't discovered until about 6 a.m. Tuesday by a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent driving through the area.

The teen died on impact, Pitts said.

A memorial celebration will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts, 157 Mary St., Clarkesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Carter Center, One Copenhill, 453 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30307.
