Four teenage boys - two brothers and two stepbrothers - died after their Jeep Cherokee swerved off U.S. 98 in Foley and crashed into a tree.

Antin Banks, 16; Byron Harris, 15; and Larance Porter, 15, died at the scene Saturday, Baldwin County Coroner Huey Mack Sr. told the Press-Register for a Sunday story.

Christopher Porter, 14, died later Saturday at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Foley police Lt. Richard Springsteen said.

Christopher Porter and Larance Porter were brothers, who lived in Foley. Banks of Foley and Harris were stepbrothers, police said. Harris lived in Louisiana but made summer visits to his father in Foley.

Police are still investigating the wreck west of where Wolf Creek runs under the highway.

The Jeep was apparently traveling east before 2:20 a.m. when it swerved across the westbound lane, went into a ditch and hit a tree.

"It appeared to be at a high rate of speed due to the damage the Jeep got," Mack said.

A state trooper investigator is working with local police to help determine what happened, including the speed of the Jeep.

It does not appear any of the teens were wearing seat belts, authorities said. Early evidence doesn't suggest drugs or alcohol were involved.
