A Warren County teenager was killed Saturday evening when her car collided with a tractor trailer tanker on Rt. 62 in North Warren.
According to Conewango Township police, Casey Reist, 17, 583 Scranton Hollow Rd., Warren was southbound on Rt. 62 near the Kwik Fill gas station, 1664 Market St. Ext., at 8:17 p.m. and turned into the right-of-way of a northbound tractor trailer tanker operated by William Hammond, 54, of Lockport, N.Y.
Reist''s Chevrolet Lumina was struck on the passenger side by the front of the tanker truck, according to police. After initial impact near the north entrance of Kwik Fill, the tanker continued to push the car into the vacant store front of the former Movie Gallery video rental store, police said.
Reist was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Ed Lloyd.
A front-seat passenger in the Lumina, Hunter Martin, 19, of Irvine was flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie by Lifestar helicopter. A spokesperson at Hamot said Martin was in critical condition Sunday evening. Police said Hammond was not injured in the accident.
Conewango Township police were assisted at the scene by Warren-based state police, Warren City police, PUC Enforcement Officer, North Warren volunteer firefighters and ambulance, Russell volunteer firefighters and ambulance, Warren City firefighters and ambulance, Glade volunteer firefighters, and Emergycare.
