Funeral services for Katlin M. Collins, age 18, of Sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mac Bearss will officiate.

Interment will follow services in the Greenview Cemetery, with Bryan Nortin, Travis Barton, Luis Garza, Darryl Davis, Nick Garofolo, Joe Candido, Matthew Favorite, and Raymond Lopez serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008, at the funeral home.

Miss Collins passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. She was born on September 22, 1989, in Hackensack, New Jersey, the daughter of Michael and Cheryl Ann Collins.

Katlin was a member of the Sulphur Springs High School Blue Blazes Drill Team, where she served as a manager. She was a member of the women's choir and French Club, and active with the Sulphur Springs Community Theater and Kerr Theater in Alief, Texas. She was a member of Who's Who of High School students for three consecutive years and a member of the National Association of High School Scholars. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Youth Under Construction.

Survivors include: her mother, Cheryl Ann Nortin and step-father, Paul C. Nortin of Sulphur Springs; her father, Michael Collins and step-mother, Stephanie Collins of Belleville, NJ; brothers, James Harper of Linden, NJ, Bryan Nortin of Houston, TX, and Patrick Collins of Sulphur Springs; grandparents, Patricia Collins of New Jersey, Rachel Garofolo of Forked River, NJ, and Richard and Marge Nortin, of Houston, TX; one niece, Lyndsay Eve Harper of Linden, NJ; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and god parents.

The family requests memorials be made to Its My Heart Foundation of Houston, TX, The Hearts of Life Animal Rescue of Sulphur Springs, and/or the Katlin Collins Fund.
