A Lake City teenager died early Thursday after his car crashed into a tree in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Continue to 2nd paragraph Tyler B. Stamper, 17, was killed in the wreck, which occurred at about 3:45 a.m. at NW Bert Avenue and NW Rhoden Glen, according to troopers.
Stamper had been driving north on NW Bert Avenue and was approaching the intersection at NW Rhoden Glen, FHP reported. The 2006 Toyota left the road and crashed into woods between the two roads, hitting a large oak tree.
Troopers were dispatched to the location shortly before 4 a.m.
Stamper was not wearing a seat belt, according to officers.
Stamper was a student at Columbia High School, said FHP Capt. Tim Culhane. Troopers could not say early Thursday where Stamper was heading or coming from when the crash occurred.
