An Orlando man died Tuesday when he lost control of his van in east Orange County, troopers said.
Florida Highway Patrol records show that Dustin Michael Selander, 21, was driving south on Alafaya Trail and approaching Challenger Road at 7:40 p.m. He swerved into another lane to avoid hitting a slow-moving vehicle but then lost control of his Chevy van.
Selander then struck the rear of Khalaf Ahmad''s car, swerved onto the sidewalk, struck a concrete wall and overturned. The van also struck a tree before coming to rest on the roadway.
Troopers said Selander died in the accident. His passenger, Douglas Paul Selander, 23, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Records show that neither occupants were wearing seat belts.
