A New York City woman is at Westchester Medical Center after the motorcycle she was a passenger on slid on its side and became lodge under a trailer today on Route 9W.

State Police in Highland, the investigating agency, said a motorcycle driven by 24-year-old New York City resident Eric Fourier, and carrying passenger Ekatrina Varlamova, 32, was headed south on Route 9W before the accident.

Fournier was passing other southbound traffic, when he struck a trailer that was attached to a dump truck, which was making a left turn onto Barry Drive.

The motorcycle slid on its side and was lodged under the trailer, police said.

Fourier was treated at the scene and transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by an emergency room technician.

Varlamova was airlifted by Statflight helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Ulster County Sheriff''s Office and the Highland and Esopus fire departments.

The road was closed for about three hours.
