A New Brunswick man was killed and six others were injured late Tuesday in an accident on Route 287 northbound in South Plainfield, police said today.

Three cars and two motorcycles were Involved in the crash.

Ruben Resto, 29, was thrown from his 2005 Honda motorcycle in the 10:53 p.m. accident and pronounced dead several hours later at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

A 19-year-old old Martinsville woman told police she was northbound on the highway when she swerved to avoid a disabled 1994 Ford Taurus in the left lane.

The woman''''s 2007 Lexus was struck in the rear by a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by a 69-year-old Budd Lake man, police said.

Resto swerved to avoid the cars, and his motorcycle flipped, throwing him and a passenger, Nicky Perez, 29, of Edison, from the vehicle.

A 35-year-old New Brunswick man driving a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle turned to avoid the other vehicles and he and his passenger - a 23-year-old South Brunswick woman - were also thrown, police said.
