The Boise County coroner has released the name of a woman who drowned in the Payette River Saturday morning.

Coroner Pamela Garlock says 22-year-old Sarah M. Herrera died after hitting her head and falling into the water. An autopsy on the victim was performed earlier today.

Boise County Sheriff''s Deputies and officials with the Garden Valley Fire Department responded to a campsite near the South Fork of the Payette River near the Alder Creek off Highway 17 at about 3 a.m. Saturday.

They were originally told that the woman was missing. Dispatchers say the woman had been drinking, went to the bathroom, and never returned to her campsite.

After an investigation and statements from the woman''s friends - deputies determined that Herrera fell down a 30-foot embankment into the river - killing her.

Crews searched throughout the night for the victim''s body, which they discovered near the River''s Point subdivision on Highway 17 - about eight miles downstream.

The Boise County Sheriff''s Office says the investigation is continuing - but "initial indications are that the death was the result of a tragic accident."
