Troopers said Monday they believe they have the vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run that killed a 14-year-old girl and said they want to talk to a passenger believed to have been in the SUV when she was struck.

The final pieces of the puzzle will be assembled at Florida Department of Law Enforcement headquarters in Orlando. The SUV troopers believe hit Megan Hensley was brought there from Hillsborough County. It''s being examined and investigators hope that analysis will give them the evidence they need to make an arrest.

Channel 9 has learned that the owner of the Nissan Xterra may not have been the driver behind the wheel when it struck and killed Megan. The owner may have loaned the vehicle to a family member who drove to Lake County to visit a friend. That friend was a passenger in the Xterra.

"We want to talk to her. We believe she is a witness. She''s not facing any charges," FHP Trooper Kim Miller said.

The owner of the Xterra called police over the weekend to say he or she thought it might be the vehicle they were looking for. Troopers can''t say much because their investigation isn''t complete.

"Based on the damage, it''s consistent with the damage that would have occurred in this type of crash. We believe we have the vehicle," Miller said.

FHP isn''t releasing any names at this point, but it was made clear that the person who may turn into the suspect in the case isn''t believed to be a flight risk.

FHP said they expect the FDLE examination of the vehicle to take a couple of days. Once that analysis is complete, an arrest could come very quickly.

A vigil held for the teen Sunday night brought out more than 100 friends and family to share stories, say prayers and comfort each other.

"I''m sure she''s looking down on us and seeing everybody knowing she''s loved," said the girl''s mother, Rhonda Conard.
