The Steuben County coroner has identified the 6th victim of a fiery crash that took place Tuesday morning in Fremont. The driver of the Chevy Blazer that crashed into a tree was identified with dental records as Roger Wilcox, 20, of Angola. Originally it was thought the identification would have to come from DNA testing because at first the family couldn't find Wilcox's dental records.

Wilcox's sister, Amber Ross, 19, said police came to their house to tell them they thought Wilcox was in the crash.

"I started bawling," Ross said. "I ran though the house screaming and then it was disbelief from then on. We still had hope, but not we don't. It's gone."

And for the Wilcox family, the tragic crash is especially hard. Ross explained her mother lost another son 24 years and four days ago to the day of Tuesday's crash.

"There's no words to describe how she is; she tries," Ross said.

Ross said she's trying to stay strong to support her mother and comfort her son, Braden, 3. Her favorite memories of her brother were when he was playing with Braden and his other nephews.

"He was just amazing. He'd give anyone his last dollar and he couldn't hurt a fly if he tried," Ross said. "He was my best friend. He was always there for our family; he was our backbone."

The 5 other victims were identified earlier this week: Jeremy Edward Fulton, 20, Donavan Michael Green, 20, Coltlyn Christine Karn, 16, Megan Kotowski, 14, and Sarah Teeple, 17. All were from Angola.

Fulton's sister-in-law, Rachel Sowlers, was also at the crash site Friday.

"He was a great person," Sowlers said of Fulton. "He was ornary sometimes, but had a lot of spunk. We had a lot of good times together."

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on County Road 100 East in Fremont. Police say a 1996 Chevy Blazer was heading north on the remote gravel road, lost control, and side-swiped several trees. It them slammed head-on into another large tree and burst into flames. Police have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
