A Jefferson, Md., woman was killed in a car accident Thursday night in Frederick County, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Dawn Nicole Moore, 18, of Jefferson, Md., was flown by a state police helicopter to Washington County Hospital following the 9:35 p.m. accident on Fry Road.

Moore was pronounced dead at the hospital, officials said.

Police said David Lee Woods Jr., 24, was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Suburban in which Moore was a passenger. Police said Woods was driving northbound on Fry Road near Gapview Farm when he leaned over to pick up something off the floorboard. He then struck some trees and the vehicle overturned.

Moore, who was ejected from the sport utility vehicle, was treated at the scene by the Frederick County Advanced Life Support Unit and fire and rescue personnel from Jefferson Fire Company, police said.

Woods was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
