Stacy Gunderman, daughter of Unhui and Jeff (deceased) Gunderman, Fulda, was killed in a two vehicle car accident on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the Davis-Hurley exit on Interstate 29, approximately 15 miles south of Sioux Falls.

Jeremy Goedtke, son of Vicki Goedtke and Kevin Goedtke, was driving the pickup that he and Gunderman were riding in.

South Dakota Highway Patrol reports state that Goedtke fell asleep at the wheel and hit the back of another car, pushing it into a guard rail.

The driver of the car was Dale Nitch, 80, Hawarden, Iowa. His wife, Reba, 79, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Goedtke was treated and released from Sioux Valley Hospital.

Gunderman was a senior at Fulda High School.

Members of the Area Ministerial Association and other counselors were available for grief counseling on Monday for students in the Fulda School District.

According to Fulda School Principal Luther Onken, a room at Fulda High School had been designated for the purposes of grief counseling as well as providing students with large sheets of paper on which they could pen messages to the Gunderman family and to Jeremy Goedtke.

Students at Fulda Elementary and St. Paul's Lutheran School were also given the option of speaking to a counselor, although Principal Onken indicated that teachers in those schools had held individual classroom discussions with the students.
