A 20-year-old Wesley Chapel man has been charged with manslaughter in the stabbing death of a man he was arguing with Thursday evening in a Tampa Burger King parking lot.

Daniel Steven Perez, 20, of Wesley Chapel, was being held in the Hillsborough County jail Friday without bail, on one count of manslaughter.

Perez and Obel Reina, 21, of 4008 Mullins Road, Tampa, got into an argument around 7:40 p.m. at the Burger King at W Waters Avenue and N Dale Mabry Highway.

Reina had followed Perez and a woman to the restaurant, and confronted them in the parking lot, said Debbie Carter, a spokeswoman for the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office.

Reina was stabbed several times in the chest, deputies said, and died after being taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

Reina and the woman with Perez, whom deputies did not identify, knew each other through a personal relationship, officials said.

Perez remained at the scene, and was taken into custody. Jail records list his occupation as painter.
