An Albany woman plunged to her death after scaling an approximately 30-foot-high tree at the Woods Hollow Nature Preserve in Milton late Wednesday.

Kristin K. Ierlan, of 60 Arcadia Court, Albany, climbed the tree about a half a mile into the preserve just prior to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Shortly after, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department received a call from a male they believe to be Ierlan's boyfriend. The caller's name was not immediately released.

Police believe Ierlan was climbing the tree for fun, and that her fall was accidental.

After Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene, they transported Ierlan about 2 miles to Saratoga County Airport. She was then brought by helicopter to Albany Medical Center, where she succumbed to internal injuries at 1:53 a.m. Thursday.

An autopsy will be performed at Albany Medical Center today to determine the exact cause of death.
