A Travelers Rest High School graduate and softball star died in a horrific accident early Sunday Morning.

It's hard for 19 year old Chelsea Hawkins' former teammates to picture life without her mischievous grin. "I don't think it's real right now. It hasn't sunk in," Brianna Hamilton said.

Highway Patrol says Hawkins lost control of her car while driving along highway 25 in Greenville County. They say she overcorrected, flipped, and then was ejected into the opposite lane of traffic where she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Investigators believe she died before the other car hit her.

"Pretty much just broke down," Hamilton said. Hamilton played ball with Hawkins at Travelers Rest High School.

Hamilton says Hawkins graduated a year ago and went on to play ball at a Georgia college. She planned on going into art.

Hawkins family has not yet made funeral arraignments, but they hope to have the service in Chelsea's high school gym.

Investigators are still trying to piece together the accident. They are also trying to locate the driver of the vehicle that struck Hawkins after she was ejected from her car.
