SANDOWN, N.H. -- The shooting death of a woman in Sandown is being investigated as a homicide.

Police said Deidre Budzyna, 20, was shot and killed when she was in an SUV in the driveway of a Morrison Lane home Thursday night.

Investigators said four friends were sitting in the SUV when a gun went off.

"We're investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the discharge of that firearm," said Assistant Attorney General James Boffetti.

Police and the attorney general's office spent Thursday and Friday investigating the shooting. An autopsy confirmed that Budzyna died from a bullet to her back.

"Homicide is the term the medical examiner is using to say the cause of death is by another person," Boffetti said. "That doesn't make any determination about any possible criminal charges. At this point, nobody has been arrested, the investigation continues, and we'll make some determinations down the road about that."

A neighbor said the house has a history with police, and police confirmed that they have shown up at the house before. Residents in the neighborhood said they are surprised someone was shot on their street.

"They're just really shocked and kind of concerned for everyone," neighbor Paul Mareb said. "It's a pretty quiet neighborhood, with a lot of little kids running around."

State police and the attorney general's office cleared the home Friday afternoon but said their investigation is continuing.
