Authorities said a child on Sunday found the body of a missing Chicago teacher along the shore of Lake Michigan in Van Buren County, Mich.

The NBC affiliate in that area told NBC5 that people at the scene believed the body was that of 27-year-old Robert Hosty Jr., a teacher at Roberto Clemente High School who was visiting his family's Michigan cottage when he vanished June 16.

The sheriff's department in nearby Berrien County on Monday identified the body as Hosty.

A news release issued by his family on Friday stated that "Hosty may (have been) suffering from sleep deprivation related to recent stress and he may (have been) disoriented."

Authorities say drowning is suspected, but an autopsy is planned.
