A young Page 3 model has committed suicide just months after winning a lucrative modelling contract.

Jenny Grant, 19, took her own life after arguing with friends on a night out.

The model was found hanged at her family home after her worried boyfriend had raised the alarm.

Ms Grant had recently won The Sun's Page 3 Idol competition and was studying criminology and psychology at Lancaster University.

She worked part-time as an assistant at hardware store Wilkinsons and lived with her parents in Wallasey, Merseyside, where her body was found.

Today, tributes poured in as news of her death was made public.

Photographer Alison Webster said: 'I'm heartbroken. Jenny was fresh and interesting and looked like someone you would meet in the street - that's why she won Page 3 Idol. I've spoken to her mum who is in deep shock.

'Jenny always talked about her - and loved all her family, who were so supportive of her career.'

Ms Grant's friend Charlie Whitfield wrote on her Facebook page: 'Everyone who ever knew you loved you and will miss you.

'My thoughts are with your family and all your close friends. Can't believe I am writing this. It just doesn't seem real. Love you Granty, love Charlie xxxxxx.'

Kris Wu said: 'Rest in Peace Jen, you'll be greatly missed.'

Jenny won £5,000 cash, a photo shoot, an official calendar a luxury holiday to Mauritius and a year's contract with The Sun after winning the paper's Page 3 idol competition.

After winning in January, she said: 'I was such a swot at school I never even thought about boys.

'All I was interested in was getting good grades. At the moment my uni course is still really important to me.'
