Boise police say they have arrested a suspect in the shooting last weekend that lead to the death of a 14-year-old girl.

Late last night, police arrested 25-year-old Kenneth Edward Elcock of Alexandria, Virginia.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident on the 1200 block of Grant Avenue in Boise shortly after 10 p.m.

Elcock is charged with murder in the first-degree, three counts of aggravated battery, one count of discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling, one count of aggravated assault and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

"Our officers and detectives have been working this case day and night. We are pleased that this dangerous individual is no longer on the streets of our community," said Boise Police Chief Michael Masterson.

Witnesses say an argument broke-out at a party early Saturday morning at the Whispering Pines Apartments on Ustick Road and a man opened fire into the crowded apartment from outside.

Four people were shot during the incident.

Fourteen-year-old April Buenrostro died from injuries she suffered during the shooting.

Police says Elcock has been in Boise for about a month, and is being held in the Ada County Jail without bond.

So far police are discussing a motive for Saturday's shooting. Elcock's does have prior criminal record in Ada County for DUI and misdemeanor fighting. He is due back in court May 4th.
