Veronica Armenta (age 5) was sitting in her family's car on Glendale Avenue in Glendale stopped for a school bus that was letting kids off around 3:00pm. Veronica was waving hello to the bus driver when defendant Jesus Razo, a former gang member, was speeding and high on marijuana and crashed into the back of the small white car at a high rate of speed.
Veronica died immediately with her older sister, 7-year old Victoria Armenta, her mother Sonia Diaz, and her aunt Rosie Guerrero in the car with her.
Jesus Razo was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
